Tour Details

The day will be devoted to the discovery of the small cities which surround the capital of Dhofar.

You will first stop at the fishing village of Taqa and its "castle", a 19th century fort (currently closed for restoration). From the top of a clive you can dolphins close from the coast.

Then we will visit Kor-Ruri, the site of the ancient Sumharam. The fortress, now in ruins, bears witness to a settlement of Shabwa in the kingdom of Hadhramaut from the 1st century BC. It was probably the main port for shipping frankincense.

Road to Mirbat which was, from the 9th century, a very lively commercial place; a few merchants' houses adorned with magnificent carved wooden doors still recall this active and prosperous past. Visit the Bin Ali Tomb.

Road to Ain Razat, where at the foot of Djebel Qara, many springs flow along the cliff towards a single basin which feeds a falaj.

Back to Salalah.
