Musandam is a rocky peninsula, 1800 km², completely landlocked in the United Arab Emirates, bordered by the Persian Gulf and the Oma Sea, it is the southern tip of the famous Strait of Hormuz, the busiest sea route in the planet. However, the region is sparsely populated, wild, steep, arid, a coastline cut into a multitude of rocky and steep fjords.

Musandam and its main port, Khasab can be reached by road from Dubai in hours or from Muscat by air.
